LEXDEN REGULARS: MEET OUR COMRADES SUPERSTARS

Pictured from left are renowned running coach Lindsey Parry and Comrades Marathon silver medallist Kirsten Leemans.
One of the many wonderful things about the City of Choice is that it plays host to so many sporting events throughout the year – the Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships, the Midmar Mile, the Duzi Canoe Marathon, the Amashova Classic and, of course the world-famous Comrades Marathon, which took place last Sunday, 9 June.
Despite whether the race is an up or down run, we always admire the commitment and strength of athletes that stay with us over this time. Each with their own tale to tell about past races and their goals set in place for the next challenge.
This year, we caught up with one of our regular guests and Comrades Marathon silver medallist, Kirsten Leemans, who is from Johannesburg and recently relocated to London. He finished 82nd overall with a time of 6 hours 38 minutes which added another silver medal to his collection of 11 silver Comrades Marathon medals. Wow!
“Lexden is such a happy place. I love spending time lying on my bed in this relaxed, pretty place. I also enjoy the wonderful breakfasts served. It is my escape,” says Kirsten.
As a major competitor, Kirsten has run the Boston, London, New York, Chicago and Berlin Marathons and has his sights set on the Tokyo Marathon in 2020.
Not only are we conveniently located for these internationally renowned events, but we also pride ourselves on making your race a little bit easier by ensuring that you have a comfortable stay – leaving you to focus on the important things.
Well done to Kirsten and all the other sportsmen and women who participated in the 2019 Comrades Marathon!
